During warm weather conditions some horses develop skin irritation causing discomfort and subsequent scratching. Sweet itch (also called Queensland itch) is an intense dermatitis of horses caused by hypersensiVitamin to the bites of culicoides spp. The lesions are worst in the summer months and most evident along the middle of the back (Mane and tail). The skin has thickened and the hair is missing. Horsol helps to reduce such discomfort.

Presentation

A specailly formulated solution, composed of salicylic acid, fatty acids and excipient, Horsol is available in 100ml & 200ml plastic bottles with a drop dispenser top.

Uses

Horsol is used on skin irritations in horses (Sweet Itch), caused by hypersensiVitamin to the bites of culicoides, lice, flies, ticks, and mites.
Camelids: As all camelids are susceptible to arthropod skin parasites, Horsol can be used on the consequent dermatitis in the same way as on horses.

Dosage and Administration

Start using Horsol in early spring or at the first signs of discomfort and continue using through to autumn.
Initially apply every day and when the discomfort decreases, reduce to 2 - 3 times per week.
  • Mane: Apply maximum 5 ml (about 80 drops) evenly along the top of the mane
  • Tail: Apply maximum 2 ml (about 30 drops) at the root of the tail.
  • Rest of body: In case of irritation elsewhere on the body, apply 1 or 2 ml on the upper edge of the lesion.
  • NB: Allow the product to diffuse by itself.

Contra-Indications, Warnings, etc.

Not to be applied onto the animal's eyes. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice.
